Why “Will” I Get Married?

Obviously this post is based on the Tyler Perry’s (movie) Why Did I Get Married?. My other half and I went to see his movie this past weekend and… whew… how amazing. Tyler did a wonderful job of depicting the lives of four married couples. He discussed everything from infidelity, careers, tragedy, parenting, and much more. If you haven't seen it yet... GO CHECK IT OUT! Extremely good movie! It gives a realistic view of marriage, from various angles. I will place a trailer of the movie below, but I will aim to use this post to discuss what marriage means to me.

Well… I too have caught the marriage bug! I am so ready to settle down… and I am sure that I have found my mate. He is talking about proposing at years end, and I am so gitty! I knew that he would be my husband the moment we met. I will admit… we did go through a few turbulent times in our relationship. When all was said and done we would always end up back with each other. He is truly my “bestest” friend in the whole wide world, and I wouldn’t trade our relationship for anything.

I guess what I would say to women out there that have hopes of one day pursuing the marriage road is…

Meet your best friend
Connect on a romantic level
Make sure the two are congruent
Be totally honest with one another (even when it may hurt)

If you are able to do this while being madly in love (happiness will come and go- the most important part will be that one or the other will lead you/them back to it when you get off track).

Get Married! Only if it fits both of you all’s fancy!
